Pregnancy photography sessions are always extra special for me. I always feel completely honoured to help record this special time for my clients. It is an emotional time and a fleeting time. There really is no other time like it, let’s be honest. Some of us love being pregnant and some of us are subject to months of nausea and discomfort. Pregnancy can be beautiful yet it can also be brutal.

I think that all pregnant women have a beautiful glow about them but many of my friends would disagree and say they personally never felt glowing at any stage of their pregnancy. But one thing that all pregnant women have in common is that feeling of anticipation and change. Change in our bodies, our lives and our family. And then of course that feeling of pure and total love when you meet that new little person in your lives.

For many women, having a pregnancy photography session is unconditional and all part of the baby making process. Documenting and recording this time in a sensitive way helps to remember this moment in our lives forever. Maybe it took a while to get to this point of being pregnant, or maybe the pregnancy took them completely by surprise. Maybe it is baby number one or baby number four. I have certainly photographed families at all stages of their growth. To me, each client and family is completely unique and it’s lovely to be able to take some personalised images.

In this case it was a total honour to photograph this couple who were expecting their first child. Speaking of the glow, both of these expectant parents certainly have it. What was lovely about this pregnancy photoshoot was that they had some fun ideas for images. It’s an entirely personal thing in terms of how you want to be photographed when you are pregnant. In this case I was able to create some personal and meaningful photographs for this family using the piano and a lovely historic place in Melbourne called Monsalvat.

Pregnancy photography sessions can be held in a variety of locations according to the types of images you are looking for. We can have the photoshoot in my home based studio, at your home, at an outdoor location such as a beautiful park, nature reserve or beach. Sessions can also be held in city laneways or in beautiful historical buildings such as the session shown here at Monsalvat.

When I capture this special time in your life, I like to make it meaningful to you and your partner therefore having photographs of both partners and other family members is important. To me, a pregnancy photoshoot is all about who you are as a family when this new little person is about to enter into the world.

A bonus of having your pregnancy photoshoot with me is that I provide you with a Gift Certificate for your newborn photo session so you really get two sessions in one. For more information about my newborn photography sessions click here.
